Facilities & Services

  • Housing: Private bedroom in a shared housing facility
Each of the Study Center's three villas contains private living quarters, studios equipped with computers, and common rooms. While surrounded by a bustling semi-urban environment, the villas and their gardens offer an oasis of calm, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Ligurian coastline — an inspiring setting that has proven to be a powerful stimulant for reflection and creativity.
  • Meals: All/most meals are provided by organization
  • Computer/internet access: Computer and internet connection provided in living or studio area (private), Wireless Internet
  • Companions: Spouses/partners allowed for full stay
Bogliasco Fellows may be accompanied by their spouses/partners during their stay at the Bogliasco Study Center. Spouses/partners are charged a daily fee of $25 to help defray the cost of meals and housing. Spouses/partners who intend to pursue a project in one of the disciplines, and who wish to be designated as Bogliasco Fellows, must submit separate and complete applications. Children cannot be accommodated at the Study Center. Pets are not allowed. Visits by friends, colleagues, or family members are not allowed, except by special, prior arrangement.
  • Accessibility: no
The buildings of the Bogliasco Study Center are relatively old and unfortunately cannot be brought into accordance with standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. In addition, the Center is located in a hilly region of Italy. In particular, passage through the gardens and the route from the dining facilities to two of the Villas requires negotiating relatively steep inclines. Persons who have difficulty walking in such conditions will not be able to take advantage of all that the Center offers.
  • Studios/special equipment: Dance / Choreography, Music studio (non-recording), Music recording studio, Painting, Photography (digital), Photography (non-digital), Printmaking, Sculpture

Residency Fees

None. The cost of transportation to and from the Bogliasco Study Center is the responsibility of Fellows and their accompanying spouses/partners. So also are all project materials and equipment, and any personal expenses incurred during the fellowship period, including medical expenses.

Stipends / other support

Through the support of generous donors and partner organizations who share our commitment to the arts and humanities, the Bogliasco Foundation is pleased to offer Special Fellowship awards, which provide travel support and/or stipends to recipients. Special Fellowships may be designated for persons working in a particular discipline or reserved for individuals coming from certain countries or geographic areas. In some cases, partner organizations may nominate specific candidates for Special Fellowship awards. Recipients of Special Fellowship awards are determined by the Bogliasco Foundation and/or our partner organizations, and recipients are notified each year by August 1. Bogliasco Fellows may not apply for Special Fellowships. When awards are determined, all Fellows are automatically considered, and recipients are chosen based on the eligibility requirements of each award.
