Bay Area Currents is a juried exhibition based on studio visits by a regional curator. The exhibition offers a snapshot of the energetic and risk-taking work made in the Bay Area today.

About the Juror:
Michael Schwager is Professor of Art History and Museum Studies and Director of the University Art Gallery at Sonoma State University. He was Curator of the di Rosa museum in Napa from 2003 to 2009. Prior to joining the Sonoma State faculty in 1991, Michael held positions at the San Francisco Art Institute, the Richmond Art Center, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

Workshop: Understanding the Artist-Gallery Agreement 
Presented by California Lawyers for the Arts, this workshop is for artists, dealers, and gallery owners who want to better understand the legal relationships between artists and galleries. Topics include consignment, warranties, transportation, insurance, pricing, gallery commissions, promotion, and return of art.

Calling Teen Poets from the Page to the Stage...
Pro Arts is excited to be a lead partner for the 2nd Annual Oakland Youth Poet Laureate contest. Young writers (ages 13-18) are invited to apply for the chance to earn a $5,000 educational scholarship and embark on a year of opportunities as an ambassador for literacy, arts and youth expression.

Supporting the arts within communities by serving the ongoing needs of artists. Pro Arts provides critical access to contemporary art in the region and serves as a regional hub for arts activities, independent curated exhibitions, advocacy, arts education and capacity building artist services - fiscal sponsorship to artists and professional exhibition services matching artists with community partners. We produce 22 exhibitions annually, exhibit over 580 artists, and reach an annual audience over 72,000.
