I'm Kenney Mencher. I'm an artist who left a tenured professorship in 2016 to pursue making art full time. This blog is about art, art history, with a emphasis on human rights. I make homoerotic art featuring bears, otters & other gay wildlife.
Inktober is a month long art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online.
You can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you're consistent the better. That's it!
Ink happens to be one of my favorite mediums to work with and I always "warm up" in my studio before jumping right into watercolors by doing a couple pen & inks. To celebrate INKtober, I am having a month long sale on every original and art print ink in my shops!
In my own artistic career, I've dabbled in a variety of mediums. But I'm not a male torso sculptor in the sense of someone who works with three-dimensional space as a medium. That is to say, the images I create are virtually always based on a surface, such as a wall, canvas, or book. That is to say, I am primarily a 'book' artist, i.e. one who creates symbols on a surface.
