A portrait is a likeness in which something is wrong with the mouth.

I just finished a portrait commission of my two neighbors from down the street.  Took me two weeks and several scraping downs and restarts.  I really hope they like it!

  1. I enjoyed the comfortableness of the couple and the contrast between their facial expressions.
And the man's stare at the water glass, "Is it half full, or half empty? At my age is anything ever half full?"
The uncluttered wall in the background kept me focused, which was very interesting.
For me it created a relaxed intenseness within a 3-point attention grabber - man/woman/glass.
At least until the third party entered the scene (dressed to kill) ha, ha.
